Events
During all year there are various events to Ostuni, tied to popular traditions and of
sacred character, like as an example the festival of Saint Biagio, of the "Barco",
the "Madonna of the Nova", "Madonna of the Star" etc, The
most rich period is sure the summer with the famous festival of "Agosto Ostunese" that encloses various Between the more important summery festivities, there is "Saint Oronzo" in honour of the protecting saint who carries out every year the 25, 26, 27 August. The festivity is articulated in several moments, of which most colorful is the famous "Cavalcata", where a corteo of horses mounts from knights with red customs decorates with arabesques and white "trine" accompanies the Saint patron in "processione". Then Festival "Vecchi Tempi" carries out in the historical center of Ostuni 15 August; along the colorful little streets lives again old customs , trades, traditions and "sapori" of a passed age and with protagonists the same inhabitants of the old quarter. As saying the typical plates of the local gastronomy can be tasted, it prepares traditionally. |
